using one of these dirt cheap release aids as a starting setup. the one with red letters on it is patriot junior, for kids or shorter stature and smaller hands. |
now forcing a shot (consciously shooting an arrow) causes a few problems. it causes shots to vary, it causes increased tension or relaxation of muscles upon executing a shot (in a bad way), shot anticipation and whatever. bottom line is its not good. and this target panic is partly contributed by using a trigger release, where the archer actively executes a shot.
well, damn.
the research continues and i came upon a solution for the issue - by using a "back tension release". its basically a type of release aid for compound shooters that does not have a trigger. well how do you shoot with it? you don't. you just aim and maintain back tension the entire time. relax your draw hand and the bow will magically fire. well i suck at explaining things. watch this.
so the release helps to eliminate the shot from the shot. no, no typo there. you don't think about shooting, you just aim. the release will do its job.
this is scott backspin BT release. i like this one hence the picture. one of these bad boys could cost you up to $200 or over 1000 malaysian ringgit. |
